A bear in a zoo displays stereotypic behaviours. A penguin colony reproduces less successfully than expected. A wildlife rehabilitation centre must decide whether a rescued sea turtle is ready for release or requires further rehabilitation.
How can these situations be analysed and addressed?
The Bachelor's Degree in Animal Care integrates Problem-Based Learning (PBL), an innovative educational approach that places students at the centre of the learning process. Working in small groups under the guidance of tutors and academic staff, students analyse real-world cases related to animal welfare, management and conservation. They identify the information needed, evaluate alternative solutions and develop evidence-based decisions grounded in scientific knowledge.
By bridging theory and practice, this approach fosters critical thinking, problem-solving, teamwork and communication skills—key competences for professionals working in Animal Care.
